Marion Voices is proud to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities in Marion County — including Black & Brown communities, immigrant & newcomer communities, communities of color, queer & trans* communities, working-class communities, disabled people, & rural communities, who have been subject to historical & ongoing structural & systemic dispossession. Effective & transformative community-collaborative folklife programming partners with communities to amplify the cultural arts, traditions, values, & heritages of under-heard communities to promote listening, learning, & solidarity across lines of difference: growing, in keeping with our mission, more just, more abundant futures for all.
We support & stand in solidarity with all marginalized communities in the exhausting & ongoing fight for systemic & structural justice in this country, & humbly hope our cultural documentation, community cultural organizing, & public presentation work will help foster a culture of expanded justice & opportunity — locally, & across the region.
