Stained Glass Artist & Teaching Artist
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Bob Hill, of Prospect, Ohio, got his starts in what became a lifetime career in stained glass arts in an unlikely way: by befriending the owners of a local Michigan macramé shop during the height of the 1970’s macramé craze. Bob lived in Michigan at the time, & the “country craft craze” (following of the heels of the U.S. Bicentennial) was beginning to sweep the country. That unexpected friendship led Bob to take a stained glass class with the shop’s owner; the rest, as they say, is history. Bob has traveled the country working in stained glass arts; his practice has spanned personal arts projects, restorations, commissions for resatuarants and homesm and the manufacture of small stained glsss itsems like suncathcers for gift sale. Most notably, through his long & illutrious careere, Bob has perhaps become best known as oe of North-Central Ohio’s most sought-after teachers of the stained glass arts. Teaching everything from group workshops to multi-part series to private lessons out of his Prospect Stained Glass working studio, & at arts & artisan craft education facilities across the region, Bob has taught almost two generations of young stained-glass artists in the Marion County area. Locally, he is also revered for his role in helping to revitalize, restore, and draw business back to Prospect’s downtown business corridor; and is perhaps best known for a gigantic stained glass panel of a tiger that hung in Bob’s Prospect stained glass shop for years, until it finally sold a few years back.
